COVID Coping Week 4

How SaskWatch members feel about COVID-19

Over the past several weeks, we have been tracking how SaskWatch Research members have been holding up with all the COVID-19 events taking place.

So, since March 23, we’ve been surveying 400 SaskWatch panellists from all over the province per week to find out. What follows are trended results from our Week 4 survey, April 13-16, 2020.

We will continue to provide updates, so stay tuned.

Here’s what we learned in Week 4…

As the outlook for the future improves, concerns are gradually shifting away from the virus and towards economic uncertainty:

Nearly four in ten Saskatchewan residents working customer-facing jobs are at least somewhat concerned about catching the virus. Moreover, half of residents who are currently working are concerned that they may be laid off in the near future.

Saskatchewan residents who are working from home appear to be settling in well, as three quarters of these workers now report they find their environment productive:

One out of five of our respondents are currently working a public-facing job. While these workers are understandably more concerned about contracting the virus from a co-worker or customer, 15% have received a raise or other benefits for their important work:

Saskatchewan residents have also continued to share a range of positive experiences and stories that have emerged amid the challenges being faced.

Here are some highlights to help brighten your day:

In addition to the stories shared above, below are a few heartwarming pictures to share as well:
